What kind of damage do pigeons cause in an attic?
Pigeons aren't like other nuisance animals when it comes to destruction, but that doesn't mean they can't make a mess, particularly in a place with absorptive materials, like an attic. Your first problem is going to be the bird poop in the area. Pigeons are indiscriminate, frequent eliminators, and they relieve themselves of both solid and liquid waste from the same opening. This caustic soup dries quickly and can be very difficult to remove, and what's worse, it can contain fungal spores dangerous to people. In addition to waste, there will be plenty of feather debris and likely the remains of some food the pigeons brought into the roost. While pigeons aren't ones to chew or dig, their liquid waste can be very damaging to porous materials like wood and insulation. When cleaning, these items may have to be removed and replaced.
